Summary in English

Digitalization of the education sector leads to the gathering of large amounts of data about pupils and students. Such educ ationaldata can be used to improve courses and teaching methods, from individual learning, to educational programs and educational environments. Data provides empirical support for educational efforts and comparative measures to identify best practices that can be spread in society; data captures the impact of learning environment; data can be used in tools and apps for students as well as teachers and education providers; educational data can drive the necessary innovation for education.

In the project, different parties from the education industry interact to actively increase data usage for education. We include both public and private actors. We will also invite new parties to participate when the project begins, and will disseminate the knowledge that comes to the entire education sector. It is an important aspect of the proposal that we address education in its totality and do not divide it according to the level of education, funding or purpose. A fragmentation could cause each part to develop their own analytical methods and their own data management when they instead may be applicable across the entire field.

The work is focused on getting the best possible benefits as quickly as possible. We will therefore collect and distribute sample use cases that have been tested internationally but are not yet applied here; We will come up with your own cases for promising data usage and we will conduct an important pilot project on the possibility of predicting study failure. Eventually we aim at
establishing Swedish Educational Data as a support organization for data-driven innovation for education.
